so glad I happened onto the pickin' on series. am recent convert to bluegrass (now a devotee).big fan of strings.and to hear my favorite Eagles this way is a real treat. I don't understand people who listen to this album and expect it TO BE the Eagles. this is a wonderful TRIBUTE to thier songwriting & I'd like to thank everyone responsable for it.
Already gone is a toe tapping masterpiece. Its the Eagles put to Bluegrass. The whole Pickin' on series is a treat for me, but Pickin' on the Eagles is one of my top choices. Peaceful Easy Feeling is just that, a great combination of the bluegrass instruments arranged perfectly. Don't miss the point. Hotel California just ignites with passion and excitement. Lyin' Eyes is another great arrangement. The Eagles music lends itself easily to the Bluerass sound and Pickin' On set the Eagles to the number one or two spot of my collection.
I received this as a gift. They apparently also can not sing so this is just the music without words. These guys are pretty good at picking but it is not the Eagles. It is a bunch of guys who apparently can't write their own songs so play someone else's songs. The gift giver was unhappy to find out it wasn't really an Eagles CD (the phrase 'a tribute' was covered by the price sticker) and no one lets you return an opened CD. What a waste of money.
Received CD as a gift, and never returned it. The best songs are when the banjo and fiddle take the songs in a direction that the Eagles never intended to go. 'New Kid In Town' is a unintentially funny song that is probably my favorite on the album.
Amazon preview did not adequately describe this CD for what it is: guitar and banjo picking and twanging period.
